Le Morne, Chamarel and Black River

Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rises just a few minutes to the south and can be explored on a beautiful guided hike. Heading inland, Chamarel is home to the Seven Coloured Earth, with its striking multicoloured sand dunes, as well as one of the highest waterfalls on the island. Nearby, Black River Gorges National Park offers trails through endemic forest. This concentration of major attractions, all within a short distance of our address, is why the west coast makes such an excellent base for a first trip to Mauritius.

Île aux Bénitiers and the west coast beaches

Île aux Bénitiers, off La Gaulette, can be reached by catamaran from the west coast for a day of dolphin watching and snorkelling at Crystal Rock. Further north, Flic-en-Flac boasts one of the island’s longest white-sand beaches, ideal for family swimming. Tamarin Bay, famous for its early-morning dolphins, completes this coastal panorama. Sugar cane and tea plantations shape the rolling landscape, a world away from the beaches.
