Make the most of your short stay: our 3-day Mauritius itinerary from the west coast, taking in Le Morne, Chamarel and Île aux Cerfs.
Three days is short, but enough to get a feel for the soul of the island if you keep the same base throughout your stay. To explore Mauritius in 3 days without wasting time on the road, make our property, perched above Rivière Noire, your base and explore the island from there. Start with the west, which is right on your doorstep, before venturing towards the south, the central region, and then Port Louis or the east coast. Here is a day-by-day itinerary designed for a short but comfortable stay, from our 5-star Legend Hill residence.
The first day of your 3 days in Mauritius can be spent close to our property, on the west coast, without any long journeys. The west is home to several of the island’s must-see attractions, from its iconic mountain and colourful landscapes to its turquoise lagoon.
This first day brings together some of the region’s highlights:

Everything is within easy reach of our property, giving you more time to enjoy the sights and less time on the road. This is one of the main advantages of having a base on the west coast during a short stay.
The second day of your Mauritius getaway takes you towards the south and central regions, which can easily be explored on a loop from the west coast. This route combines spirituality, sugar plantation heritage and protected lagoons, amid lush green scenery.
As you head inland, several stops can be included throughout the day:
Set off early for Grand Bassin, before the heat and crowds arrive, then head down to Blue Bay for an afternoon swim. The southern loop can easily be completed in a day from the west coast, allowing you to return in time to watch the sunset over Le Morne. Our concierge team can arrange your itinerary and book a private driver if you would rather not drive.
The final day of your 3 days in Mauritius gives you a choice between two major excursions from the west coast, depending on what you would most like to see. Head towards the capital and the north, or cross the island to the east coast and its most famous island.
Two options are available to round off your itinerary:
With just three days, keeping a single base on the west coast means less time spent travelling and more time enjoying the island.
Only have a short time in Mauritius and want to make the most of it? At Legend Hill, our concierge team can organise your 3-day Mauritius itinerary and arrange your excursions, from a catamaran trip to Île aux Bénitiers to a full day exploring the east coast. Book your short stay on the west coast, overlooking the lagoon and Le Morne Brabant.
Want your 3 days planned from start to finish?
Method: the sites, distances and the sequence of the loop were cross-checked with the Mauritian tourism board's destination guide and the UNESCO World Heritage listing of Le Morne, and supplemented by the Legend Hill team's field observations, verified in August 2026. Opening hours and travel times vary with the season and traffic; ask our concierge team before setting off.
