Mauritius is fringed with turquoise-water beaches all along its coastline. From Flic-en-Flac to Belle Mare, including the unspoiled coves of the south, each coast offers a distinct atmosphere. This guide presents the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius, organised by region. It will help you choose the ones that best match your travel preferences. You’ll also discover lesser-known spots away from the crowds, along with our top tips for making the most of them during your stay at Legend Hill.
The west coast is home to some of Mauritius’ most popular beaches. Sheltered from the trade winds, it boasts calm waters and breathtaking sunsets.
Flic-en-Flac stretches for 8 kilometres of fine white sand overlooking a shallow lagoon. It is ideal for both families and diving enthusiasts. Sunset is an experience not to be missed, and from the heights of Legend Hill, the panoramic views are even more spectacular.
The finest sunset on the west coast isn’t watched from the beach. It is watched from the heights.
Nestled beneath Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this beach offers a truly breathtaking setting. The lagoon is a favourite among kitesurfers seeking pristine surroundings.

Tamarin has preserved its authentic atmosphere. Its waves make it a renowned surfing destination, while dolphins can often be spotted offshore in the late afternoon.
Head to Tamarin Beach early in the morning for a truly unforgettable experience. The lagoon is perfectly calm, and the golden light gently bathes the mountain. Locals from Rivière Noire know this peaceful hidden gem well.
The north and east coasts are home to some of the most photogenic white-sand beaches in Mauritius. In the north, Trou aux Biches stands out for its crystal-clear waters and coral reef located just 200 metres offshore. Nearby Mont Choisy features a long stretch of beach that’s perfect for early morning walks.
On the east coast, Belle Mare extends for nearly 6 kilometres of pristine white sand. Its atmosphere is more peaceful than that of the north coast. Grand Baie, meanwhile, combines beach life with lively markets and waterfront restaurants.

Close to Legend Hill on the west coast, several little-known beaches offer a more intimate and authentic experience, just minutes from the resort.
Located along the west coast, within easy reach of Legend Hill as well as the long beach of Le Morne, these beaches remain peaceful, unspoiled and easily accessible.

The dry season, from May to October, offers the most favourable conditions. Temperatures remain pleasant, averaging around 25 °C (77 °F), while rainfall is minimal. This is also the ideal season for kitesurfing on the island’s wind-exposed beaches.
From November to April, the wet season brings warmer weather and occasional tropical showers. The sea remains pleasantly warm, ranging from 27 °C to 29 °C (81 °F to 84 °F), making it an excellent time for swimming. Even during the rainy season, mornings are often sunny. On showery days, the south of the island takes over: it is the perfect moment to follow the Mauritius Tea Route up to the central highlands.
Dreaming of waking up overlooking the lagoon and Le Morne Brabant? Legend Hill, offering private villas in Mauritius, welcomes you in the heart of the west coast, just moments from the island’s finest beaches. Book your stay and experience the legend.
